ABOUT US:
          My name is Kent Sweeney and I have been an avid motorcyclist for over 25 years.  I have been riding and upgrading motorcycles since I began riding at an early age.  After graduating high school, I enrolled in Iowa Lakes Community College in Motorcycle Repair.  I then graduated with honors and decided to enroll at Motorcycle Mechanics Institute in Phoenix, AZ.  I graduated with multiple expertise awards at MMI and completed all Professional Harley-Davidson Assessments to date.  My first job in the motorcycle business was in Austin, TX at Central Texas Harley-Davidson.  After a short time, I became the shop foreman but was quickly offered a job as a motorcycle technician back in my hometown.  Deciding to take the position in Waukon, I achieved a Master Technician status in the minimum six years as required by Harley-Davidson.  Ten years later while working at Waukon Harley-Davidson, I felt the need to pursue my dreams of owning my own service center which is now Side Street Cycles in Waukon, IA.

 My idea of a service center is based on examples that I have noticed throughout my career: 

  • Customer Based- The needs of the customers come first.  Most dealerships have parts, service, and sales departments that should all communicate for the wants and needs of the customer.  I have seen too many disconnected departments but here at Side Street Cycles, a customer will only have to speak with one employee who will handle everything the customer prefers.


  • Professional Recommendations- At Side Street Cycles I believe a customer’s motorcycle is meant to be ridden.  Recommendations will be given based on my knowledge of what works well with the riding style that the customer prefers.


  • Professional Work- Here I believe your bike should perform, look, and feel better than before you brought it to Side Street Cycles. From basic maintenance to upgrading your machine, the customers should feel confident knowing that everything was done at the highest level of expectations.


  • Safety- I am a firm believer in safety.  Side Street Cycles will perform all safety checks no matter the type of work being done to the customer’s machine.
